The first event in the field of health sciences in 2024 at the CCIB is held from March 7th to 10th

Today begins in Barcelona the most important annual congress in Europe on Gynecological Oncology. The Centre de Convencions Internacional de Barcelona (CCIB), managed by Fira de Barcelona, hosts until Sunday the 25th edition of the European Congress on Gynaecological Oncology. The meeting, which will bring together more than 2,800 participants, offers professionals a unique opportunity to learn, network, and debate on the latest medical and scientific advancements in gynecological cancers. Additionally, essential issues related to treatment and corresponding care will also be addressed.

From March 7th to 10th, the CCIB becomes the venue for more than 50 scientific sessions led by renowned international experts. The congress is organized by the European Society of Gynecological Oncology (ESGO) under the leadership of Dr. Jordi Ponce, president of the congress and Head of Gynecology at the Hospital de Bellvitge, and it is the first time this meeting takes place in Spain.

Taking advantage of the event being held in Barcelona, the hometown of the modernist architect Antoni Gaudí, the slogan proposed for this edition is: “Join the mosaic to defeat cancer.” In this way, everyone is invited to collaborate with the congress to take a step forward and advance in the treatment of gynecological cancer.

The congress, with the aim of promoting research, features live surgeries performed from the Bellvitge University Hospital, a large number of workshops, round tables, seminars, presentations, symposia, video sessions, educational conferences on ESGO’s new guidelines, a special space for young scientists, and many other activities.

Dr. Ponce, who will perform a robotic surgery during the event, considers that this year’s ESGO is “a great opportunity to showcase to the world the potential of our public health system in gynecological oncology, as well as its capacity to introduce innovative techniques such as robotic surgery.” The event will allow the update of the specialty’s clinical guidelines and the incorporation of innovative aspects in diagnosis, surgical concepts, radiotherapeutics, and medical strategies personalized from diagnosis.

ESGO is the first of the 14 events in the field of health sciences that the CCIB hosts this year

ESGO is the first meeting in the field of health sciences that the CCIB hosts in 2024. In the calendar of events scheduled at our facilities, there are 14 confirmed events, among which stand out the 38th congress of the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT 2024), the 7th World Symposium on Pulmonary Hypertension, the 37th Annual Congress of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM), and the 6th edition of the EORTC-NCI-AACR Symposium on Molecular Targets and Cancer Therapeutics (ENA 2024).
