Featured artists include Antonia Font, Beck, Dua Lipa, Maria del Mar Bonet, Massive Attack and The Strokes

This Thursday, 2 June, kicks off the 20th edition of Primavera Sound, one of the country’s biggest music festivals, bringing together one of the widest ranges of music styles on the events calendar. From 2 to 12 June, there will be more than 500 performances, a dozen of which will be held at the Auditori Fòrum CCIB concert hall. Artists on the Festival’s line-up include Antonia Font, Beck, C-Tangana, Dua Lipa, Gorillaz, Nick Cave, Massive Attack, Maria del Mar Bonet and The Strokes, and more.

The Auditori Fòrum CCIB, a concert hall belonging to the CCIB (Barcelona International Convention Centre) and run by Fira de Barcelona, will once again be the venue for some of the Primavera Sound concert, as it has been for 16 consecutive editions after the transfer of the event from Poble Espanyol to Parc del Fòrum, where most of the open-air concerts will be held.

With 3,084 seats and a 420 m² stage, the CCIB Forum Auditorium is equipped with the latest technology and offers great acoustics and a fully insulated venue, making it one of the largest indoor concert halls, hosting around twenty shows every year, as well as numerous CCIB events. Thus, during the first weekend of Primavera Sound, the CCIB will once again be the venue for the most up-close-and-personal shows of the festival.

The duration of the event is one of the year’s great novelties, as to commemorate 20 years’ worth of concerts and after a two-year absence due to the pandemic, Primavera Sound 2022 will span over two weekends instead of the usual one-week duration of the last few editions.

More urban than ever

Primavera Sound includes a programme called Primavera a la Ciutat, a parallel festival with more than 200 performances which will take place on fifteen stages all over the city of Barcelona. It starts the day before, on 1 June, with concerts in Poble Espanyol – the location of the festival’s first edition in 2001 – and the Sala Upload venue. The other concert venues participating in this programme are Sala Apolo and La (2) de Apolo, Razzmatazz 1 and Razzmatazz 2, Sidecar, Paral.lel 62, RED58, La Tèxtil, La Nau, LAUT, Bóveda and VOL.
