More events and bigger ones
2024 has been a year of intense activity and historic results. It was a year marked by the celebration of the CCIB’s 20th anniversary and by constant progress towards a more responsible, efficient and people-oriented management model. Despite global uncertainties, the year’s results confirm this positive trajectory: the CCIB has recorded its best results ever, with a turnover exceeding €45.6 million, up 5.1% on the previous year.
The total number of events hosted in 2024 was 85, slightly lower than the previous year, when 92 events were hosted. Even so, these events had a greater impact on turnover, lasted longer and were larger and more internationally significant. In total, the CCIB welcomed more than 414,000 attendees, mainly from abroad. Customer loyalty continues to be a key pillar: recurring events —those that have already been held at the centre— accounted for 52% of the total and 62% of turnover.
The year has once again stood out for hosting major events, especially in the medical and technological sectors. Among the most relevant are the Gartner IT Symposium/XPO, the Gartner Supply Chain Symposium/XPO, the IBM conference and the Envista EMEA SUMMIT. In the medical sector, the Euretina congress, the ISB blood transfusion congress and the ESCIM Annual Congress of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine played a prominent role. Finally, events in other sectors were also highly significant, such as CineEurope, the leading European film convention, and the 16th Gaudí Awards ceremony of the Catalan Film Academy.
