Physiotherapy once again finds one of its main meeting points at the CCIB with the start, this Thursday, of the 4th International Physiotherapy Congress (FTP26). Organised by the Col·legi de Fisioterapeutes de Catalunya, the event brings together more than 1,500 participants at the Barcelona International Convention Centre, managed by Fira de Barcelona, from 9 to 11 July. FTP26 will be the last congress hosted by the CCIB before the summer break, while the venue is already preparing an intense second half of the year with international events and expects to host more than 70 events this year.
Under the slogan “We will do it again!”, this major physiotherapy meeting presents a multidisciplinary scientific programme taking place simultaneously across 10 spaces at the CCIB. Over three days, attendees will be able to participate in conferences, round tables, practical workshops, oral communications and scientific poster presentations, as well as in spaces designed to encourage the participation of professionals, students and companies from the sector.
The main thematic areas include pain treatment, respiratory, neurological, sports, paediatric, geriatric, oncological and pelvic floor physiotherapy, as well as mental health, research, teaching innovation and new technologies applied to clinical practice. The event features internationally renowned speakers, including the prestigious Australian researcher Lorimer Moseley, one of the world’s most influential figures in the study of persistent pain.
As a new feature, FTP26 includes a first day on Thursday featuring visits to leading healthcare centres, the opening of the commercial exhibition and the first talks and workshops, before the main programme of the congress begins the following day. In addition, this year’s edition includes a space dedicated to start-ups and a specific area for students, where bachelor’s and master’s degree final projects (TFG and TFM) will be presented, further strengthening the event’s commitment to innovation, research and emerging talent.
Last congress before the summer break
FTP26 will mark a milestone in the CCIB’s congress activity before the summer break. The venue, which expects to host more than 70 events this year, concludes an intense first half of the year featuring major events such as the 40th edition of the Goya Awards, Spain’s leading film awards; CineEurope, the main European convention and trade show for the film industry; the UIA World Congress of Architects, which brought together more than 10,000 professionals; ATTD 2026, focused on innovation in diabetes; and the Gartner Supply Chain Executive EMEA Conference, dedicated to supply chain management.
From September onwards, the CCIB will resume its activity with an intense calendar of new high-profile events, including the European Microsoft Fabric Community Conference, focused on data and analytics; EACTS 2026, the European congress on cardiothoracic surgery; the World Green Infrastructure Congress, dedicated to green infrastructure and sustainable cities; Gartner IT Symposium/Xpo, aimed at technology leaders and IT executives; the ENA (EORTC-NCI-AACR) Symposium, focused on new cancer therapies; AVEPA-SEVC 2026, in the veterinary field; and the SECEC congress on shoulder and elbow surgery.
