Tomorrow, Barcelona will host the opening of the world’s leading conference on wound treatment. Until Friday, the Barcelona International Convention Centre (CCIB), managed by Fira de Barcelona, will welcome over 6,000 professionals from 90 countries for the 35th Conference of the European Wound Management Association (EWMA). This annual event, which took place in London last year, offers a key opportunity to learn, network, and discuss the latest trends and innovations in the field.
From March 26 to 28, the CCIB will host over 250 scientific sessions addressing topics such as leg edema, pressure ulcers, nutrition related to wound recovery, pain management, hidradenitis suppurativa, palliative care, and burns, among others. These sessions will be led by renowned international experts. Throughout the three-day event, workshops, interactive sessions, roundtable discussions, and keynote lectures will be held, with the aim of providing the latest knowledge and enhancing best practices in wound care.
The congress will feature 143 industry exhibitors across 10,000 m² of space, showcasing the most innovative and advanced products in the sector.
Organized jointly with the Spanish Advisory Group for the Study of Pressure Ulcers and Chronic Wounds (GNEAUPP) and in collaboration with the Spanish Wounds Society (SEHER), the event is held under the theme “Moving towards excellence in wound management by breaking frontiers and silos” with the goal of overcoming geographical, cultural, and professional barriers while fostering collaboration across disciplines and sectors.
A 2025 featuring 15 medical events
With the EWMA, the CCIB marks the beginning of the first major medical event of the year. In 2025, the venue located in the Fórum area is set to host nearly a hundred events, 15 of which will be major congresses in the field of health sciences. Among the highlights are the congress on gastrointestinal cancers organized by the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), the congress of the European Society for Evolutionary Biology (ESEB), the interventional radiology congress (CIRSE), the world congress on multiple sclerosis (ECTRIMS), the nuclear medicine meeting (EANM), and the congress of the World Stroke Organization (WSC).
