SUstainability & REsponsibility: SURE! ... Because at the CCIB we asked ourselves many years ago how we could better meet the rising expectations of each of our company’s stakeholder groups regarding ethical and responsible business. These groups comprise all those individuals who, inside or outside our company, are in some way affected by the CCIB’s activities or whose own activities interface with ours.
Our conclusion was to make an explicit commitment to all our stakeholder groups, one which goes beyond strict environmental sustainability criteria to form part of a corporate philosophy that is an integral element of our mission and company values. This approach makes it possible to harmonise our business objectives with the threefold responsibility - social, environmental and corporate governance – that our stakeholders expect us to fulfil today.
Many management boards would not consider making such a commitment, as at face value this does not directly support profits. At the CCIB, however, we firmly believe that fully integrated, responsible management is the only way to approach an uncertain but also promising future for our society and all our stakeholders.
We are convinced that in a networked society such as ours, open and constant dialogue with clients, shareholders, the local community, governmental and institutional leaders, employees, trade unions, public media and of course the academic community – to mention our main stakeholder groups – is an essential part of our fundamental company strategy.
